It's fitted with a new-style loop handle with a quick-mounting system, so you can adjust the handle to your height for a comfortable, ergonomic working position — this also makes mowing on slopes, around trees, or on uneven terrain easier, and keeps the tool highly manoeuvrable in tight or confined spaces.

Powered by a powerful, compact, low-weight brushless EC motor, the FSA 120 R offers variable speed control across two levels: Level 1 (Eco mode) reduces power for simple tasks like trimming lawn edges, extending battery life, while Level 2 delivers full power for mowing thicker grass. During operation, the brushcutter automatically recognises which cutting attachment is fitted and adjusts speed to deliver optimal performance for that attachment. Soft-grip components on the control handle improve grip and comfort, especially in wet conditions, and an ergonomic lever means there's no need to unlock the machine again while working, as long as one hand stays on the rear handle.

The tool is compatible with Stihl's Smart Connector, so it can be integrated into the Stihl connected system — once fitted and commissioned, it records the tool's operating hours and transmits them to the Stihl app via Bluetooth, giving an overview of maintenance needs so the tool stays ready to use.

As a bare unit, the FSA 120 R is supplied without a battery, charger, or harness, making it ideal for users who already own compatible Stihl AP System batteries.
